Mozilla Links has a video of Tab Tearing in Firefox 3.1. I’ve been waiting for Tab Tearing since I was probably two years old. It’s not crucial in the grand scheme of things, but it sure is welcome for heavy users, especially us that do a lot of reading and research. Being able to reorganize my topics as my session progresses seems like something I should have been able to do years ago.

Today, my typical read-session consists of loading four or five blogs at a time, opening all seemingly interesting posts in new tabs from each blog and moving to the next. After having opened 20+ posts (tab soup) I read them in sequence, ever opening new tabs as I find interesting stuff within these. With Tab Tearing, I now see these sessions becoming focused, having one topic per window. Knowledge will happen by osmosis. It’s a bight future.
